USA’s probable playing XI for T20 World Cup 2024

One of the hosts of the T20 World Cup 2024, the United States of America are placed in Group A alongside giants like India and Pakistan and will hope to pull off an upset or two in this tournament. After their T20I series against Canada, the USA announced their 15-man squad comprising some interesting players from all around the world. 

One of these former international stars is New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson, who showed off his skill against Canada. So with the T20 World Cup 2024 less than a month away, let us look at the probable American playing eleven.

USA’s probable playing XI for T20 World Cup 2024

Openers: Steven Taylor, Aaron Jones

Opening the batting, the USA will enlist the services of  Steven Taylor and Aaron Jones. Both players are experienced campaigners and have experience playing all over the world.  Jones may have a lowish strike rate but Taylor with his blistering strike rate of 147.19.

Middle-order: Andries Gous, Gajanand Singh, Monank Patel (c & wk), Corey Anderson

The American middle-order includes  Andries Gous, Gajanand Singh, Captain Monank Patel and Corey Anderson, the most experienced players in the team. Gous and Patel had an incredible performance against Canada while Singh remains the highest run-scorer for the USA. Rounding off the middle, Anderson will bring his sublime hitting prowess and a ton of international experience.

Lower-order: Harmeet Singh, Shadley van Schalkwyk

USA’s lower-order comprises left-arm spinning all-rounder Harmeet Singh, the highest wicket-taker against Canada while hitting some valuable runs with bat. Alongside Singh, Shadley Claude van Schalkwyk has been a consistent right-arm pacer, who also was the joint-highest wicket-taker against the Maple Leafs. 

Bowlers: Jasdeep Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar, Nosthush Kenjige

Talking about USA’s bowling, the Three Stripes could field the trio of Jasdeep Singh, Saurabh Netravalkar and Nosthush Kenjige. Singh has been one of the most promising talents for the USA as he has picked up 10 scalps in seven games. Similarly,  Kenjige also impressed with his left-arm spin in his first four games. Last but not least,  Netravalkar  has been one of the more experienced players for the USA with 24 wickets in 24 matches.
