Tushar Raheja Is Rewriting the TNPL Record Book – One Fifty at a Time

The beginning of each new cricket season brings along with it breakout players, and in TNPL 2025, the star is Tushar Raheja. The 24-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter has left the rest of the competition smoking, making four back-to-back fifties and registering an incredible 298 runs in four matches for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans.

In terms of how incredible that actually is, no other missed has even scored 200 runs. And let me tell you, this isn’t some random season he is doing good in — this is just pure domination. So, who is this rising star that the cricket-watching public is eager to learn more about? Let’s put a few facts together objectively, through 5 facts.

Young by Age, Veteran by Mindset

Tushar Raheja was born on February 7, 2001 — but don’t let the birth year fool you. He bats with the patience of a seasoned pro and the confidence of someone who’s been dominating for years. Whether he’s building an innings or switching gears to attack, Raheja finds that sweet spot between calm and calculated aggression.

Like many of India’s new-gen players, he grew up watching Kohli and Rohit, and now, he’s writing his own story. Even his Instagram handle (@tushar_raheja01) quietly nods to his roots — and maybe to the idea that this is just chapter one.

Wicketkeeper + Opener = A T20 Asset

In the T20 universe, there’s no doubt that being multi-skilled is everything. Raheja opens the batting and keeps wicket; that’s an incredible combination.

He bats left-handed and adds much-needed variety at the top of the order and has done it in style with scores of 80, 74, 65, and 79. Raheja’s ability to score runs in various match situations shows he can adjust his game mode and thinks about the game; he is not just a hitter.

With this level of impact, I won’t be surprised to see IPL franchises, most certainly CSK, start monitoring his progress leading into 2026.

From Benchwarmer in 2018 to Star Performer in 2025

In 2018, Raheja was just a boyish face among Varun Chakravarthy and Arun Karthik when he played for the Siechem Madurai Panthers. Raheja played only 2 matches that year and scored 8 runs, and got to sit in the same changing room as Chakravarthy and Karthik — which has its own educational value.

Here we are today, and he is not just playing. He is also leading. His transformation from a player on the fringes of the league to being a match-winning regular player is testimony to the power of diligence, perseverance, and being willing to wait until the time is right.

Made Domestic Debut Only in 2024

While Raheja was affiliated with the TNPL set-up for some seasons, he only made his official Tamil Nadu debut – late-2024. Shortly after his T20 debut with Tamil Nadu against Saurashtra, captained by Shah Rukh Khan, he made his List-A debut against Uttar Pradesh, captained by Sai Kishore.

Both these players are with the Gujarat Titans in the IPL, so it would not be out of character for Raheja to suddenly be on their radar- it is not surprising given how he is going at the moment! He may have come late to the scene, but he is certainly making up swiftly!

Tushar Raheja’s rise in the TNPL 2025 appears to be more than a standalone purple patch. Tushar is consistent, calm, and clearly understands his role. Close to 300 runs while being a competent wicketkeeper with good game awareness seems to be making a strong case for honorable elevation.

For one fact, he is in the spotlight and appears not to be dimming any time soon.
