He is ready…: CSK CEO confirms MS Dhoni’s participation in IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) CEO, Kasi Viswanathan on Saturday, October 26 made bold statement after former India cricketer and legend hinted on his participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. It is to be noted that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the retention rules ahead of the mega auction, set to take place in November end.

However, it saw the BCCI and IPL General Council make some bold decisions, one of the rules emphasised that Indian players who have either retired or not played international games can be retained as uncapped. This came in majorly seeing MS Dhoni’s participation, who retired from international cricket in August 2020.

When he is ready, what else we want: CSK CEO

After the 43-year-old dropped a big statement on his availability in IPL 2025, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan also opened up, confirming that MS Dhoni will be playing in the upcoming edition. When asked about whether the franchise is ready to include the legend as a part of their retention plan, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “When he (MS Dhoni) is ready, what else we want. We are happy.”

I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play: MS Dhoni

Speaking during a promotional event, the legend, MS Dhoni confirmed his participation in the upcoming edition of the IPL. “I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I am able to play,” Dhoni said hinting on his IPL future. “When you play cricket like a professional sport, it becomes difficult to enjoy it just like a game. That’s what I want to do. It’s not easy. The emotions keep coming, the commitments are there. I want to enjoy the game for the next few years,” Dhoni further added as quoted by the Times of India.

The 43-year-old further added that he needs to keep himself fit in order to participate in the upcoming edition of the cash-rich league. “I have to keep myself fit for nine months, so that I can play two and a half months of IPL. You need to plan it out, but at the same time chill a bit,” Dhoni further added.
