Play of the Day: Tanush Kotian takes 5-wicket haul in Ranji Trophy as Mumbai need 262 runs to win vs Baroda

Tanush Kotian, the off-spin bowler, took a five-wicket haul of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Baroda at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. With his vital spell, Baroda could only set a target of 262 runs for Mumbai on day three of the contest. After taking a lead of 76 runs in the first innings, Baroda failed to convert it into a big lead as they were bowled out for 185 runs in the first innings, with skipper Krunal Pandya leading from the front with a half-century. Chasing a target, Mumbai are currently 42/2 at the end of day three.

Coming to bat in the second innings, Baroda didn’t have a great start as they lost six wickets for just 41 runs, with Tanush Kotian taking the top-order including wickets of Raj Limbani, Shashwat Rawat, Mitesh Patel. After that, the skipper of Baroda, Krunal Pandya, took the charge of the innings and played a captain’s knock of 55(144) runs. Apart from that, Mahesh Pithiya also scored 40(60) runs as Baroda were bowled out for 185 runs with a lead of 261 runs. For Mumbai, Tanush Kotian registered figures of 5/61 in his spell of 21 overs. Mumbai are currently 220 runs away from the target with Ayush Mhatre and skipper Ajinkya Rahane present at the crease.

Himachal Pradesh take mammoth 364-run lead against Uttarakhand

Talking about other matches in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Himachal Pradesh have taken a mammoth lead of 364 runs against Uttarakhand in Dharamshala. After posting a mammoth 663/3 declared on board, Himachal bowled Uttarakhand out for 299 runs in the first innings. With a huge lead, Himachal Pradesh have enforced the follow-on against Uttarakhand. Avneesh Sudha played a fighting knock of 96(171) runs as Uttarakhand were able to put 299 on board. Batting in the second innings, Uttarakhand are currently on zero runs for no wicket in one over at the end of day three.

In one of the other matches in the Ranji Trophy, Gujarat have given Hyderabad a target of 297 runs in Secunderabad. Umang Kumar top scored in the second innings with 85(113) as Gujarat were bowled out for 201 runs. For Hyderabad, Gangam Anikethreddy took a five-wicket haul, while Chama Milind and Tanay Thyagarajan bagged 2-2 wickets each.
