The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are reportedly set to appoint Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate in the assistant coach role of the Indian cricket team. After working alongside the newly appointed Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders in the recently concluded IPL 2024 season, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate will join him in the Men in Blue setup.
Notably, the IPL 2024 season with the Kolkata Knight Riders was a highly successful one for the trio of Gautam Gambhir, Abhishek Nayar, and Ryan ten Doeschate, who played a key role in bringing home the coveted trophy to the franchise after a decade long wait. While Gambhir was the mentor at KKR, Nayar and ten Doeschate served as batting and fielding coaches respectively.
Apart from the inclusion of Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate in the coaching staff of Gautam Gambhir, Cricbuzz also reported that T Dilip, the fielding coach of India, will be retained in his role too. As far as the bowling coach of the new Indian setup is concerned, the name of Morne Morkel, the former South African fast bowler, has been rumoured to join, but there is no official announcement about any such appointment from BCCI thus far.
It has been further revealed that Abhishek Nayar and T Dilip will be joining Gautam Gambhir on the upcoming tour to Sri Lanka for the Indian cricket team. Although there is no confirmation around when Ryan ten Doeschate will join the Indian setup, especially since he is currently a part of the coaching staff of LA Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket (MLC).
