WATCH: James Anderson’s daughters ring five-minute bell at Lord’s ahead of 1st Test vs West Indies

England b ow ling stalwart James Anderson’s daughters rang the five-minute bell ahead of the first Test against West Indies. On Wednesday, July 10, England hosted the West Indies for the first Test at the Lord’s. Anderson, regarded as one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game, played his last game as the two sides squared off for the first of the four-Test series. 

Ahead of the match, fast-bowling legend’s daughters, Lola and Ruby, rang the customary five-minute bell at the Lord’s, making the occasion more special for the retiring cricketer. Later, captain Ben Stokes handed over the ball to Anderson who delivered the first ball of the game. Apart from his daughters, Anderson’s parents and wife were also present in the standings, cheering for him.

Earlier during the toss, England skipper Ben Stokes hailed James Anderson as the ultimate professional. Stokes said, “We are always looking to progress as a team. It has been a while since we have been together since that India tour. When you have time you have a chance to take a seat back and look at where you want to take the team.”

He added,  “What we can expect from Jimmy is complete heart, desire and passion to win games for England. His sole goal this week is to go out there and be the performer that he has been for such a long time. Jimmy is the ultimate professional. That first ball I am sure the crowd will be right up.”
