No good thing ever dies: X erupts in joy as India defeat South Africa to lift second T20 World Cup

Indian fans outpoured their emotions on X as Rohit Sharma-led side defeated South Africa in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final. By lifting the trophy, Men in Blue ended their 11-year-long ICC trophy drought. In the finale on Saturday, June 30 (IST), India took down their counterparts by a margin of seven runs to become the t20 world champions for the second time. India were playing their first T20 World Cup final after a decade, whereas it was South Africa’s first ever World Cup final.

Batting first, a struggling Indian team managed to post 176 runs with the loss of seven wickets. In return, South Africa hoped to get off on a positive note but failed to do so, courtesy of lethal Indian bowlers including Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya. While Heinrich Klassen tried to keep Proteas’ hopes alive with his 52-off-27 knock, Indians showed no mercy and restricted the side to 169 runs off eight wickets.

Indian went emotional and took to social media; here’s how they reacted:
