On Thursday, June 27, Team India advanced into the final of the T20 World Cup 2024 after they defeated England by 68 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. After being invited to bat first, the Rohit Sharma-led side put 171 runs on the board, courtesy a crucial 57-run knock by the skipper along with a 36-ball 47 from Suryakumar Yadav.
They, thereafter, bundled out their English opponents for 103 in 16.4 overs and cruised into the final. Although, the Men in Blue are now just one win away from making history, their skipper Rohit Sharma was seen break down in tears after the sides’ convincing win in Guyana. The 36-year-old got emotional after he greeted the players and was spotted in tears while he sat down in the dressing room balcony.
With Rohit pouring his heart out in form of tears of joy, his compatriot Virat Kohli was seen consoling him, in a moment which has gone viral on social media.
Speaking in detail about Rohit Sharma, the 36-year-old achieved remarkable hat-trick, reaching the final of all three major ICC tournaments in a year. The Men in Blue, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership reached the final of the World Test Championship in June 2023, ODI World Cup 2023 and now the T20 World Cup. Sharma now joins Kane Williamson, the former New Zealand skipper in the elite club of captains to lead Team India in finals across all formats.
