India and South Africa will be playing in the grand finale of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. In a world tournament dominated by the bowlers, the batting lineups of both these teams will be in sharp focus in the final, which will be played on a pitch with some assistance to the spinners in particular.
With that, a decent innings from either of India or South Africa batters could prove to be a massive difference maker in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. In this article, SportsTiger looks at three top knocks from the Indian cricketers versus South Africa in T20Is.
Suryakumar Yadav (100 in 2023)
In the third match of the T20I series between India and South Africa last year, Suryakumar Yadav scored 100 off just 56 with seven fours and eight maximums as captain at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. His innings helped the Indian cricket team post a formidable total in excess of 200, which they went on to defend successfully, winning the match by 106 runs.
Suresh Raina (101 in 2010)
During the T20 World Cup 2010, Suresh Raina became the first Indian player to score a hundred in all formats of the game, notching up a three figure score at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. His innings played a major role in helping the Indian cricket team defeat South Africa by 14 runs, defending a 186-run total successfully.
Rohit Sharma (106 in 2015)
In 2015, Rohit Sharma scored a fantastic hundred against South Africa on a belter of a pitch and a fast outfield at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. He hit 12 fours and five maximums in 55 balls, scoring 106 runs in the innings, but his contribution didn’t prove to be enough on the night for the Indian cricket team, who were unable to defend the 199-run total in a last over thriller.
