The Board for Control of Cricket in India is set to offer Tushar Deshpande and Mayank Yadav fast bowling based on their impressive performances in IPL 2024. On February 28 2024, the BCCI introduced fast bowling contracts to certain players who have played for India or are on the verge of playing for the national team.
These pace bowling contracts are separate from the central contracts offered. Under these accords, the BCCI will take of these fast bowlers and monitor their training and injury issues at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The development was reported by the Times of India, which quoted a BCCI source revealing that the board was impressed by the performances of Deshpande and Yadav.
Deshpande and Yadav likely to receive fast bowlers’ contract
The report quoted a source saying, “Yes, Tushar and Mayank Yadav were given their fast bowling contracts just after an impressive show in IPL- 2024. Tushar has been bowling consistently for Mumbai and CSK for the past couple of seasons and has improved immensely in the last 18 months. This is why he has been picked in India’s T20I team for Zimbabwe and has been given a fast bowling contract.”
Alongside Tushar Deshpande, the other pacers who have received fast bowling contracts are Mayank Yadav (Delhi & LSG), Akash Deep (Bengal, RCB), Vijaykumar Vyshak (RCB), Umran Malik (Jammu & Kashmir, SRH), Yash Dayal (Uttar Pradesh, RCB) and Vidwath Kaverappa (Karnataka).
