On Sunday, June 23, Afghanistan defeated Australia by 21 runs for the first time in ICC Men’s World Cups. After being put to bat first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (60) and Ibrahim Zadran (51) put up a brilliant opening partnership to score 148 runs on the board in the allotted 20 overs. The Asian country successfully defended the 149-run target as they bundled out the Aussies for the score of 127 in 19.2 overs.
With this win, not only did Afghanistan solidify their position as a good cricketing nation, but they also kept their T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals hopes alive. After this historic win, the Rashid Khan-led side began their victory celebration from the field with their backroom staff also joining the players on the field. Not only this, Dwayne Bravo, who is serving as Afghanistan’s bowling consultant for the T20 World Cup 2024, also raced to the field to congratulate his players.
Afghanistan players dance on DJ Bravo’s ‘Champion’ after historic win
The Rashid Khan and Co. extended their on-field celebrations to the team bus. In a video shared by former captain and Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, the players can be seen dancing on Dwayne Bravo’s famous single ‘Champion’. The players, including Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmed were seen playing the hook step while shaking a leg.

The Rashid Khan-led Afghan Atalans are still alive in the T20 World Cup 2024 semifinals race and will next take on Bangladesh at the Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on June 25.
