Over the last two decades, West Indies cricket have garnered a reputation of being sublime hitters who have dominated the white-ball, especially T20s. Living up to this name, the Men in Maroon have won the T20 World Cup twice (the joint most in tournament history) on the back of some magical big-hitting. This Caribbean power was on full display against Afghanistan in their final group game of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Playing in St Lucia, Nicholas Pooran smashed a 53-ball 98 with six fours and eight sixes to over take the legendary Chris Gayle as West Indies’ highest-six hitter in T20Is. With this milestone, let us look at the batters who have hit the most sixes in T20Is.

Rovman Powell
The current West Indies captain Rovman Powell is the country’s fifth highest six-hitter in T20Is with a tally of 90 sixes in 75 games. Growing into one of best finishers in white-ball cricket, Powell has scored 1377 runs at an average of 25.50 and a 143.73 strike rate. This time around Rovman Powell will hope to lead the Men in Maroon to their third title.
Kieron Pollard
West Indies fourth highest six-hitter is Kieron Pollard with his 99 maximums from 101 matches. Regarded as one of the greatest T20 players of all time, Pollard has hit 860 six in the shortest format, but for the Windies the ‘LLord’ replicate similar success. In T20Is, Pollard has scored 1569 at strike rate of 135.14 and was part of the 2012 T20 World Cup winning side.
Evin Lewis
Known as a swashbuckling top-order batter, Evin Lewis has hit 101 sixes, the third most for the West Indies in T20Is. The Southpaw from Trinidad may not have an illustrious career but made runs whenever he has got the opportunities. T20 internationals, Lewis has scored 1465 runs in 53 games at an average of 29.89 and a strike rate of 151.97.
Chris Gayle
The second-highest six-hitter for the West Indies is arguably the greatest batter in T20 history, Chris Gayle with his 124 sixes. From launching the T20 World Cup with a century in the first-ever match of the tournament in 2007. Gayle, across T20s, has smashed 1056 maximums and replicated his Bradman-esque form for the West Indies as well. In his 79 matches, the Universe Boss has scored 1899 runs at strike rate of 137.50.
Nicholas Pooran
Topping the list is West Indies cricket’s modern-day stars, Nicholas Pooran, with his 128 sixes from 92 games. Regarded as one of the cleanest strikers of the cricket ball, Pooran has showcased his manic ability in franchise T20 tournament around the world. In 333 T20s, Nicky P has score 7167 runs at blistering strike of 147.62 and continued this for the Windies scoring 2012 runs while striking at 135.85.
