In their UEFA Euro 2024 opener against Poland in Group C at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, when Cody Gakpo scored the equaliser for the Netherlands in the first half, the fans were spotted having a wild celebration at the venue and the fan zone. With that, Poland and Netherlands went into half-time with a 1-1 scoreline, hoping to push for a winner in the second half to take an early lead in their group.
The goal-scoring moment happened in the 29th minute when Cody Gakpo cut in off the left before taking a shot past three defenders, only to deflect off one of them into the back of the net past Wojciech Szczesny. It was in response to the opening goal from Adam Buska off a towering header past Bart Verbruggen into the Dutch net in the 16th minute.
Notably, hours before this UEFA Euro 2024 match got kicked off, the Dutch fans brought the orange to the streets of Hamburg, marching to the stadium to the sound of a techno beat. The passers-by were spotted stopping by, taking photos of them.
